30-day challenge : Day 2

"Write about your relationship status"
Now, this is a bit heavy for day 2. Or maybe it's just me... My relationship status: SINGLE. I like this better than "divorced". "Divorced" sounds sad. I used to be sad, but I'm not anymore... Been divorced for a little over a year now, although been out of the marriage for close on 4 years now... SO: I am now pretty much ready to meet someone new. Not for a heavy, intense relationship, just a nice man who I could spend some quality time with - wining & dining & movie-watching & perhaps a little dancing.
I don't have have a 40page Terms of Reference for this new person... I'd just like someone kind & funny & intelligent. And there really needs to be a *spark*. There really really needs to be a *spark*.
So yes, I'm looking to make my "ex-DH" into my "1st DH"! *smile*

30-day challenge : Day 1

"Post a picture of yourself and 10 facts about yourself"
This is the most recent / decent photo of moi (taken about 10 days ago, but a sweet friend). It's not bad, aside from the glass of wine & the double chin, which are intimately related obviously... Pretty good colour green, if I say so myself...
10 facts about yourself. Without any further ado....
1. I am not comfortable talking about myself. I am not comfortable centre-stage. I have extrodinarily low self-esteem and poor self-image, which I am working on (see #3). *smile*
2. I have just turned 40, which was quite difficult. Not to get to 40, but to turn 40 with some grace & gratitude. Working on that too (see #3).
3. I am always "working on" something. It's like I'm OCD about self-help, helping-myownself. I always have some sort of "project" happening - trying to be a better me. Better mom. Better friend. Better Christian. Better exwife (not really) *wink*. I think self-improvement is a little overrated, but I'm hooked.
4. I really like wine & food (clear from above photo!) I have a classic love-hate relationship with both. See #3.
5. I have an Honours Degree in "Environmental Water Management" but am not working in that field. Nor have I ever (really)... And while I not enamoured with my current job, I don't really have a problem that I'm not working in the field for which I studied.
6. I have more friends than I think I have.
7. I LOVE reading, but currently lack the attention span and the time.
8. I am anti-depressnat meds. New ones today in fact. Interesting ride. (see #3)
9. I am quite self-sufficient, but am currently mssing the emotional interdependence of a "significant other". My doctor said (today) that having a partner is "overrated" and that I should consider mastibation. I think for a brief moment he forgot I'm a woman. We need partners for more than just *that*. He was kidding (he said), but I'm pretty sure that conversation was Freudian.
10. This was hard. And easy. Interesting. Qi. Thanks for the challenge, Nix. I need to write more. Cathartic. See #3

Nix's 30-day challenge (i like)

30th January 2011 (Sunday)

Check out this super-organised mom! Shups gave us the calendar, and now I have it up, declaring my super-organisedness as well as telling us what's going on for the month. The line: "these are the ones I love the best, even more than all the rest" is from one of my favourite books - bought for Ant when he was a littly, but we still read - called "Horray for Fish".

29th January 2011 (Saturday)

We spent the entire day at the Waterpark for Kaityn's 11th bday. I was mega grumpy, partly from "sacrificing" my much-needed "free" weekend, partly from fetching-&-carrying boys, partly getting to wrong place (fully my fault), but once there, was good. Did some sliding with the boys & we all got a lot of sun.

Tim found this green&gold bug. Gorgeous.

28th Jan 2011 (Friday)

Sushi, a delicious movie ("Shrink" with Kevin Spacey & a naughty cameo by Robin Williams) and some Sav Blanc. Really good "me-time" after a from-hades-week. *sigh* that's better... much better.
Got me thinking about de-grump strategies. Some quiet alone time, a long calm deep candlelit bath, some warm fuzzy sms's between good old friends, a cat purring on my belly. So many good things.

October 2008

How can it be? Good heavens!
Was reading a few blogs this morn & wondering why i haven't been blogging. Really should. And like Heidi does, just EMAIL. Ok. NtS: ask her how & start doing it!

new musica from London

Found me some new music in London. Lovely stuff. Bought THREE (no less!) CDs of Tim Hughes - worship leader at HTB (Holy Trinity Brompton). Was just so blown away by the worship there, and remembered how much I missed it, that I decided to bring some home with me!! Then also got the new Chris Tomlin ("Hello Love") for Clare (which she will share with me, of course!) and the new Brenton Brown, which I haven't listened to yet... Wow. New lease on the driving-to-Bhisho life!! Too cool.

Tuesday, September 9

Lord, give me
the courage to do what's right
the courage to go against the flow
the courage to hope
the courage to sow (& quit eating the seed!)
the courage to trust You
the courage to wait
